Otsuka Foods to Launch “Umami wo Ajiwau Wa no Bon Curry Kodawari-dashi no Wafu Curry”
Japanese Soup Stock and Curry, the Ultimate Pairing

TOKYO, Japan, August 5, 2025—Otsuka Foods Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo Ward, Osaka; President: Goro Ikeuchi) announced today that it will release “Umami wo Ajiwau Wa no Bon Curry Kodawari-dashi no Wafu Curry” (umami-rich Japanese-style curry with specialty Japanese soup stock). This new curry product artfully pairs three kinds of Japanese soup stock with a rich, flavorful curry. The product will be available across Japan on September 1, 2025.

Background
Over the many years since its launch as the world’s first commercial retort-pouch food product, Bon Curry has been loved by many consumers. Throughout its long history, Otsuka Foods has continuously expanded the Bon Curry lineup to meet changing consumer needs.

Recently, fluctuations in rice prices have led consumers to shift their eating habits with more frequent consumption of noodles at daily meals. In addition, consumers are becoming more interested in Japanese-style products that highlight traditional ingredients and umami flavors. In response to these trends, Otsuka Foods has developed this new Japanese-style Bon Curry, designed to be enjoyed over both noodles and rice.
